Patient feedback and complaints

We welcome comments about the diagnostic ultrasound service we provide. Anyone who has had an appointment at our clinic can make a complaint. Where criticism is made we will respond to the complainant and, where necessary, put right what was wrong.

We aim to give the best possible standard of service, both clinical and administrative, at all times. However, there may be times when you feel this has not been achieved.

We operate an NHS complaints procedure to deal with comments, suggestions and complaints about the service we provide. All staff are trained in this procedure and will be happy to give you further information.

We will try to address all your concerns promptly, provide you with an explanation and discuss any action that may be needed to prevent a future occurrence.

The benefit of state-of-the-art technology

The ultrasound scanner we use looks a little like a computer. There is a monitor, a keyboard and a hard disk unit. We also use a hand-held probe, which is attached to the scanner. This looks a little like a paint roller. The sensor sends out sound waves and picks up the returning echoes.

As the scanner slides over your skin, images of the inside of your body are shown on the monitor.

Our image system is linked with the image data system called PACS at the University Hospital. Data protection applies as outlined by NHS regulations. The benefit for you is seamless medical care. In case you will be referred to a consultant for further treatment your consultant will be able to access the report and images to enhance his / her judgement.

We are also cooperating with CUS, Centre for Ultrasound Studies, assisting in clinical governance and performing on-going clinical auditing for quality control purposes.

The type of scanner we use is the Toshiba Aplio 400. This is state-of-the-art in ultrasound scanners, successfully combining high performance scanning with a wide range of clinical applications, ease of use and intelligent data management. The exceptional processing power of the Toshiba Aplio 400 enables precise imaging of anatomical and physiological detail.
